DEVELOPER: Propaganda Games, GameStar (PC)

RELEASE DATE: 07 December 2010
TRON:Evolution the game, is set during the period of time between the two TRON films, TRON:Evolution and the new upcoming film – TRON:Legacy. The game is set before the second instalment of TRON legacy and is set in a vast digital world with disc based combat and futuristic light cycles. The game bridges the gap between the two films and tells the story of a faceless character, Anon, who is a system monitoring program.
Seeing as the game is a movie tie-in/prequel it is expected that the graphics are not going to be superb however, they are actually quite amazing, as is the sound. The animation of the film is also good and gives the player a feeling of being a very part of that digital world. Whilst the game takes a while to get the hang of and master the controls, as well as learning the tricks of combat, once you know what you’re doing you can really enjoy the experience.
The game has as multiplayer option which is slightly weak and could do with a tweek, as well as adding some new game modes as after playing the same modes over and over they get quite repetitive.
Even though the game has a few minor faults, it is a highly enjoyable game and as far as game play goes it is very quick and fluid, even if at times it is quite difficult to control the character. The combat aspect is good but I would like to see more levels with the light cycles as they were highly enjoyable even if the handling can be a little glitchy at times. The game contains a good variety of environments and is thoroughly enjoyable.
Overall it is a slick and fast paced game which if you enjoy futuristic games is definitely worth buying.
Although I’ve been incredibly critical of the functionality, I’m very happy to reward Disney’s Tron: Evolution an overall score of – 9 out of 10.
