Dark circles under the eyes can be caused by various different issues. The most important element of any successful treatment is to try to first establish what is making your eyes appear dark. The answer, will most commonly be one of the following; lack of sleep, poor diet, smoking, alcohol and drug misuse, vitamin k deficiency or an underlying medical condition. At this point it would be a good idea to recommend you to speak to a medical professional if you believe your dark circles could be a consequence of a medical issue. Otherwise, try the following;
Firstly, try to get at least 8 hours sleep each night
Drinking alcohol or caffeinated drinks in the evening will reduce the efficiency of your sleep cycle. Try to avoid any stimulants after dinner.
Get 2 smooth pebbles and put them in the freezer
When you first wake-up, remove the pebbles from the freezer, run them under cold water then rub them around the eye area. After a couple of seconds, stop. Give the area a little break, then continue. Do not apply the pebbles to the area straight out of the freezer, or for longer than 3 seconds.
Concentrate on the area when washing
When you use your face wash, work the product gently into this area and thoroughly rinse. This will help to control the amount of oil in the area.
Don’t smoke!
I know this sounds like something a nagging parent says, but face mapping experts suggest that the area under the eyes reflects the internal state of the lungs. If you smoke, your eyes will give you away.
Use a good eye cream
Most eye creams will help to reduce bags, fine lines and dark circles. Store it in the fridge and apply each morning. Keeping it cool will enhance its performance.
Always apply SPF to the area
Even during winter months. Low levels of melanin are stimulated by the sunlight, even during colder seasons. Keep your under-eyes tan-free at all times with a good SPF.
Still not working?
Try a concealer. There are tonnes of them designed specifically for men’s skin. Try matching it to your natural skin tone, this will make it look really natural.
